Moving your checking account to Texoma Educators may seem like a daunting ordeal. However, we’re here to help, and the steps below give you a plan to follow.
Steps to move your checking account
- Open your new account at any Texoma Educators branch location. Each member must have a savings account with a minimum $20 balance, and we require a $2 fee to open a savings account. For your checking account, we require a $100 minimum deposit. See our checking account options.
- With your checking account established, now you need to ensure that any automated deposits are going into the new account.
- Contact each employer, retirement fund, government, military…any and all entities that pay you regularly. You’ll need to provide the following information to each payor:
- Our institution name — Texoma Educators Federal Credit Union
- Our routing number — 311989030
- Your account number and account type, such as checking
- Next, make a list of all the automated withdrawals coming out of your old checking account. Check your records going back at least 12 months to find any annual payments.
- You will need to contact each payee and provide the routing and account numbers for your new account.
Examples: mortgage, insurance (car, home, health), memberships, subscriptions, utility bills
- Next, make a list of all the bills you pay in the old account’s online/mobile bill pay system, so that you can set up each one in the new account’s system. You’ll need each merchant’s name, bill pay address and your account number with them.
Examples: water, electricity, gas, phone, TV, internet, security system, credit cards, insurance, loans
- In our online or mobile bill pay system, add each merchant as a new payee.
- Click the Pay Bills link, then click the button for Add a Company or Person.
- Search for an existing payee.
- If no search results are found, click the link to “Enter the info for [the payee]”
- Be sure that the address is the billing address found on the invoice or monthly statement.
- For any other payments you make, be sure to update your profile with the new checking account information.
